| Abstract | The increasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has created both opportunities and challenges for all teachers. In the field of language education, AI is revolutionizing every aspect of language teaching, including curriculum design, assessment, pedagogy, and materials development. With AI technology advancing at an incremental speed, there is a growing concern among educators about falling behind in this constant catch-up game, or even the possibility of being replaced by AI. Therefore, the big question is: where do we go from here?
In Part 1 of the Impact and Implications of AI in Education for Every (Language) Teacher, I reviewed a journal article entitled "The Future of AI and Education: Some Cautionary Notes" by Neil Selwyn (2022), briefly introduced my involvement in computational linguistics and research in linguistic creativity, provided some predictions about the future development of AI in education, and suggested a long-term approach to language teaching.
