AbstractThe title compound [Co(plbbm)Cl2]n 1 [plbbm =1,1'-(1,3-propylene)bis-1H-benzimidazole] presents flexible and multidentate plbbm ligands acting as end-to-end bridging spacers that link Co(II) centers into one-dimensional single helical chain. The chlorine anions behave as terminals binding metal centers. The helical chains are further stacked by the π - π stacking interactions, which form an infinite 3-D supramolecular network. The thermal behavior and fluorescent property of 1 were also investigated. Copyright © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
