| dc.description.abstract | Through substituation reaction, one lead ferroceneyl carboxylate polymer, namely [Pb(μ<inf>2</inf>-OOCClH<inf>3</inf>C<inf>6</inf>Fc)<inf>2</inf>(phen)]<inf>n</inf> 1a [Fc = (η<sup>5</sup>-C<inf>5</inf>H<inf>5</inf>)Fe(η<sup>5</sup>-C<inf>5</inf>H<inf>4</inf>)] was synthesized from precursor [Pb(μ<inf>2</inf>-η<sup>2</sup>-OOCClH<inf>3</inf>C<inf>6</inf>Fc)<inf>2</inf>(CH<inf>3</inf>OH)<inf>2</inf>]<inf>n</inf> 1. However, a mononuclear Pb(II) complex {[Pb(η<sup>2</sup>-OOCClH<inf>3</inf>C<inf>6</inf>Fc)<inf>2</inf>(phen)]·(CH<inf>3</inf>OH)·(H<inf>2</inf>O)} 2 could be obtained from the traditional one-pot reaction of FcC<inf>6</inf>H<inf>3</inf>ClCOONa and Pb(OAc)<inf>2</inf> with 1,10-phenantholine (phen). The electrochemical studies of 1, 1a, 2 and FcC<inf>6</inf>H<inf>3</inf>ClCOOH indicate that the half-wave potentials of the ferrocenyl moieties in these complexes are all shifted to positive potential compared with that of FcC<inf>6</inf>H<inf>3</inf>ClCOOH. © 2010 Elsevier B.V.
