AbstractProject connect*ed is a cross-disciplinary, cross-institutional project that leverages the features of a commercial e-platform to support virtual communities of learning among medical and education undergraduate students who are undertaking off-campus learning experiences. In its first year, the project team identified, investigated, piloted and evaluated different team collaboration platforms identified by expert consensus and by students’ preferences. This poster (1) presents the platform selection criteria and rationale, and (2) showcases how the chosen platform, “Workplace by Facebook”, was used to (i) support individual and collaborative learning, (ii) provide social support and connectivity and (iii) conduct assessment.
