Abstract | 支援農村教育是實現教育公平的其中一個方法。自改革開放以來,中國大陸的城鄉差異日益擴大,帶來社會不公的現象。為改善滯後的農村發展,支援農村教育成為了近年備受關注的議題,而大學生暑期支教就是其中一種形式。能帶著自己的一顆善心付諸行動,當然是一件美事;然而,經過研究員的親身體驗,作為一個香港的大學生,發現支教過程中面對很多意想不到的困難。那麼如何使這件美事能真正祝福農村的孩子呢?這就是本研究最關心的問題。
是次研究以上海交通大學思源公益2014年河南支教項目作為研究對象,透過個案研究、問卷調查、訪談等研究方法,找出香港大學生支援農村教育時遇到的困難,並為這些困難提供出路;另外亦探討香港大學生參與支教的意義。
本研究發現,香港大學生在支援中國大陸農村教育期間,在教學內容的準備、教學語言的使用、和當地環境的適應三方面產生最大問題。其主要原因是前期的準備和溝通不足,日後的支教隊可以朝著這個方向努力改善,如何具體落實則需要兩地學生共同去思考和付出。至於意義,則分別體現在支教項目的整體效果、農村學生、支教隊成員上。支教過程遇到的問題雖多,但這部分顯示其意義重大,仍然是一項非常值得更多人投入參與的工作。
Supporting rural education is one of the ways to actualize the idea of equity in education. Since the Open Door Policy, the regional difference between urban and rural area in China is widening, resulting in the problem of society inequality. In order to improve the sluggish progress on the rural development, supporting rural education has been a hot issue in recent years. One of the possible ways is the participation of university students in teaching the children in rural area during summer vacation. It is indeed a very beautiful picture. Yet, according to my own experience, there are several possible problems. Especially for university students from Hong Kong, they would face unexpected challenges in the voluntary teaching experience. So how could the rural children truly be blessed by voluntary teaching? This is the major concern of the study.
In this study, “Shanghai Jiao Tong University Siyuan Commonweal Organization Voluntary Teaching Team to Henan 2014” is taken as an example, to investigate the challenges of the university students from Hong Kong to support rural education in the Mainland China and the possible resolution through case study, questionnaire and interview. In the latter part, the significance of the university students from Hong Kong to support rural education would also be examined.
The study findings spot out three major problems encountered by the participants, namely the preparation of teaching content, the use of medium of instruction and the adaption of environment. It is mainly because of the insufficient preparation and communication. Students from Hong Kong and the mainland should work together. As for the significance, having university students from Hong Kong in a voluntary teaching team could bring advantages to the program itself, to the children in rural area and to all the team members. Thus, the significance of Hong Kong participants of voluntary teaching is worthy of being examined, despite of many obstacles ahead, so as to optimize the effectiveness of supporting the rural education. |
