Using Picture Book Teaching to Enhance the Ability of Ethnic Minorities Students in Writing Chinese Characters and Passages in Hong Kong

Abstract

<p>The lack of effective teaching methodologies for ethnic minority students in Hong Kong leads to a lack of motivation to learn Chinese. This study attempts to use picture books teaching to a group of ethnic minority secondary school students to learn Chinese characters and Chinese essays, using the research tools such as interviews, class observation and text analysis, to analyze Chinese teachers on how to use picture books to guide the student to identify the paint with the words and sentences of the story, and understand the story content and theme, and to make their own profound reflection. The results show that the teacher and students have a positive evaluation on the effectiveness of the picture-book teaching, and they think that the picture-book teaching can make students easily recognize the meaning of Chinese characters and understand the theme and main idea of the text more in depth with the help of pictures.</p><p><br></p>

香港的少数族裔学生学习中文一直欠缺有效的教学方法，导致学生对学习中文缺乏动力。本研究尝试运用绘本教学来给一班少数族裔中学生学习书写汉字和写作短文，运用访谈、观课和文本分析等研究工具，具体分析中文教师如何运用绘本引导学生辨认绘本故事的字词和句子，并理解绘本的故事内容和主题思想，从而作出自己的深刻反思。研究结果显示，参与师生均对本次绘本教学的成效持正面的评价，认为绘本教学能令学生在图文的配合下，更容易辨认汉字的意思，以及更深入理解文本的主题内容和中心思想。

홍콩의 소수민족 학생들을 위한 효과적인 교육 방법의 부족은 중국어를 배우려는 동기의 부족으로 이어진다. 본 연구는 소수민족 중등학교 학생들을 대상으로 그림책 수업을 실시하였다. 인터뷰, 수업 참관, 텍스트 분석 등의 연구 방법을 활용하여 중국어 교사가 어떻게 그림책 텍스트 속의 한자와 문장을 판별하게 하는지, 그리고 이야기의 내용과 주제를 이해시켜 깊은 성찰에 이르게 하는지를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 교사와 학생은 그림책 수업의 효과에 대해 긍정적인 평가를 하고 있으며, 그림책 수업이 학생들이 한자의 의미를 쉽게 인지하게 하고 텍스트의 내용 과 주제를 깊이 있게 이해하는데 도움을 준다고 생각함을 알게 되었다.
