Dr Feng, Yibin 馮奕斌
Dr Feng is a physician scientist, currently an Associate Professor cum Associate Director (education) with duty of research, teaching, clinical consultation, administration and service in School of Chinese Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. He received his Chinese medicine education for his Bachelor and Master study in Mainland China and finished his scientific research training and western medicine education for his PhD degree in Japan. He is a registered Chinese medicine practitioner in oncology. His teaching subjects are Pharmacology and Toxicology of Chinese Medicines and Internal Chinese Medicine.
Dr. Feng’s research interests concentrate on clinical trial and experimental study of herbal medicine for cancer and metabolic diseases by using recently developed techniques. For the past 10 years, he has secured over 20 million HK$ as PI and collaborated with scientists from worldwide including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Japan, UK, Canada and USA. He has published over 160 peer-reviewed papers (over 100 SCI papers) and books to explore scientific evidence for Chinese herbal medicine in prevention and treatment of cancer and metabolic diseases. Most of his papers were published in 5%-25% journals in category of Integrative & Complimentary Medicine, or pharmacology or molecular biology and some papers were highly cited, so he was listed as one of HKU Scholars in the Top 1% by 2018 Essential Science Indicators. His passion and achievements attract excellent students and now he has 3 PhD, 2 MPhil students and 3 Postdoc fellows in his research team.
He played a leading role in professional and international academic communities, serving as the chairperson for several international conferences and having been invited by academic institutions and lots of international conferences as keynote or plenary speaker. He served as advisor/expert committee member for government agencies, professional bodies and WHO. He also served as editor and reviewer for over sixty international journals.
