Dr. Jasper Fuk-Woo Chan is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology, The University of Hong Kong (HKU), Hong Kong, China. He received his M.B.B.S. from HKU in 2005 and underwent postgraduate specialist training at the Department of Medicine and Department of Microbiology at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong, to become Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Pathologists of the United Kingdom, the Hong Kong College of Pathologists, and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He joined the Department of Microbiology at his alma mater as Honorary Assistant Professor in 2008 and Clinical Assistant Professor in 2013. He was awarded the Sir Patrick Manson Gold Medal for the best M.D. thesis at HKU in 2017.
Dr. Chan is actively involved in patient care and laboratory management as an Honorary Specialist at Queen Mary Hospital (Hong Kong), Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital, and HKU-Shenzhen Hospital (Shenzhen). His research focuses on emerging viral infections with pandemic potential and emerging infectious diseases with special relevance to Hong Kong and China. He has authored/co-authored more than 170 peer-reviewed publications in SCI-indexed journals and has been consistently ranked as a top 1% scholar in the world since 2015 (Clarivate Analytics' Essential Science Indicators) (http:/ /hub.hku.hk/local/top1pc/top1pc.jsp) (Scopus: h-index 41, citations >5400 as of 1 July 2019). He currently serves as an Associate Editor for BMC Infectious Diseases and BMC Microbiology, and the ASM Young Ambassador of Science to Hong Kong.
陳福和現為香港大學李嘉誠醫學院微生物學系臨床助理教授, 香港大學深圳醫院臨床微生物及感染控制科顧問醫生及香港瑪麗醫院微生物科學系名譽副顧問醫生。陳醫生於2005年畢業於香港大學並獲香港大學內外全科醫學士學位。 2006年至2012年,他於瑪麗醫院內科學系及微生物科學系接受專科醫生培訓,並成為英國皇家內科醫學院院士、英國愛丁堡皇家內科醫學院榮授院士、英國皇家病理科醫學院榮授院士、香港病理學專科學院院士及香港醫學專科學院院士。 2017年,他考獲香港大學醫學博士學位並獲授白文信爵士金牌(香港大學醫學博士學位應屆最佳畢業論文)。陳醫生於2008年加入香港大學李嘉誠醫學院微生物學系,擔任名譽助理教授,並於2013年成為臨床助理教授。到現在為止,他在臨床微生物學和感染學已有超過10年的專業工作經驗。他積極參與香港大學深圳醫院, 瑪麗醫院, 以及港怡醫院的病人治理,實驗室管理及感染控制。在教學方面, 除了香港大學李嘉誠醫學院的本科教學(香港大學內外全科醫學士) 外, 陳醫生是超過20名博士生和碩士生, 以及多名修讀香港大學感染及傳染病學深造文憑的醫生的導師。
陳醫生的主要研究方向是有全球大流行潛力的新興病毒感染及與中國和香港有特別相關性的新發傳染病。根據科睿唯安(Clarivate Analytics) (原湯森路透Thomson Reuters) 發布的Essential Science Indicators,自2015年起,他每年均被列為“全球頂端1%學者” (Top 1% Scholar) (http:/ /hub.hku.hk/local/top1pc/top1pc.jsp)。根據Scopus的數據, 直到2019年7月1日為止, 他的 h-index為41, 被引用次數超過5400次。他已在SCI收錄國際同行評審學術刊物上發表學術論著及綜述170餘篇 (包括40餘篇以第一作者/共同第一作者或通訊作者身分發表的論著及綜述)。他現為BMC Infectious Diseases 和 BMC Microbiology 的副主編。陳醫生曾被邀請在多個國際性和區域性會議上主持會議或演講。他現為美國微生物學會(American Society for Microbiology) 的青年科學大使(香港), 國家科技部香港大學新發傳染性疾病國家重點實驗室的骨干成員, 以及海南醫學院-香港大學熱帶傳染病聯合實驗室的創始共同執行主任。他近五年主持或作為主要負責人(首席調查員或課題前三名) 獲得多項香港特別行政區的研究基金項目(香港特別行政區醫療衛生研究基金和香港特別行政區政府食物及衞生局研究項目), 以及作為項目骨干成員參與廣東省高水平醫院建設登峰計劃(香港大學深圳醫院)。此外, 他和他團隊的研究成果也獲得了數項國內外的專利。
