Dr Eric C. Ip 葉子暘
Eric C. Ip (DPhil, University of Oxford) is an Associate Professor of Law at the Centre for Medical Ethics and Law with The University of Hong Kong (HKU).
Ip is an expert in public health law and ethics. His relevant work, which studies how the law can be deployed to promote population health in ethical ways, has appeared in The Lancet Public Health, JAMA Health Forum, American Journal of Public Health, Health Economics, Policy and Law, and Bioethics. He is writing the first scholarly book on Hong Kong’s public health law, to be published by Routledge. He teaches global health law for the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at HKU. He holds an advanced degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney, specialising in bioethics.
Ip’s award-winning research on comparative administrative and constitutional law has been published in peer-reviewed periodicals such as The American Journal of Comparative Law, Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, International & Comparative Law Quarterly, and International Journal of Constitutional Law. He is the author of Hybrid Constitutionalism (Cambridge University Press, 2019) and a co-editor of The Oxford Handbook of Comparative Administrative Law (Oxford University Press, forthcoming 2020).
Prior to joining HKU, he taught at University College London (UCL) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he served as Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law.
