AbstractThe invention provides organometallic complexes comprising an extended pi-conjugated tridentate ligand having a platinum center in which chemical and/or physical properties of the complexes may be modified by changing the structure of the ligands. The complex finds use in devices incorporated into electroluminescent devices, flat panel displays, organic light emitting devices, polymer light emitting devices, transistors, serrors, and lasers.
