Professor He, Shenjing 何深靜
Shenjing He is Associate Professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at The University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining HKU in 2015, she was Associate Professor and Professor at the School of Geography and Planning, Sun Yat-sen University (2008-2014); Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (2014); and Research Fellow at the School of Planning and Geography, Cardiff University (2006-2008). She is currently the Chinese editor of Urban Studies(SAGE), and a member of the international editorial advisory board of International Planning Studies (Routledge) and Area Development and Policy (Taylor and Francis).
Shenjing’s primary research interests focus on urban redevelopment/gentrification, housing differentiation and socio-spatial inequality, rural-urban migration and urban poverty. She has published more than sixty journal articles and book chapters in English and Chinese, including papers inAntipode, Current Anthropology, Environment and Planning A, Housing Studies,International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Population, Space and Place, Social & Cultural Geography, Urban Geography, Urban Studies etc. She is the co-author of “Urban Poverty in China” (Edward Elgar, 2010), co-editor of “Locating Right to the City in the Global South” (Routledge, 2013), and “Urban living: Mobility, sociability, and wellbeing” (Springer, forthcoming). She is also the lead guest editor of several special issues for Environment and Planning A (2012),Urban Studies (forthcoming) and Urban Geography (forthcoming).
